How to heal your child and yourself after post pandemic trauma?
With the experience of making Art and Dance Meditation!
It's the word which is a journal, poetry, and theater.
It's visuals which is painting, sculpture, photography.
It's dance, moving your body.
Music, playing or listening to music, and all together a ceremony.
Tell yourself, others, community and the earth is what this course is to help you to Heal with The Arts and Dance!
But for you, you don't actually have to worry.
You don't have to think about it.
If you're in an intense situation where you need to be healed, and you do it,
it's going to do it for you.
Welcome, I am so happy you're taking this course, Healing with the Arts, because really, you're giving yourself an experience of self-healing and self-care. In this course, we will have modules that you can follow week after week, but I want to encourage you to honor where you're at and the pace in which you're going to take the course. There is flexibility in this course for a reason. Because many times, we start something and we need to have a little more time to think about what we want to do. But the intention of the course is for you to be exposed to a variety of different styles, visual arts, the spoken word, music and dance. And I'm inviting you to sort of explore these different styles! Participate in the different activities, and participate and engage in some of the demonstrations you're going to see. This allows you to sort of explore what you feel ! Some of them, you will like and some of them you're like, I'm not really into that. And that's okay. So what I want you to do is honor what you intuitively and naturally connect with and then take it from there. I'm hoping to introduce you to a variety of different Arts and Dances, so that gives you the opportunity for self exploration. Because many times, we haven't given ourselves permission to even try anything, and we really don't know if we like it until we feel it. We may think we don't like something, we may think we don't like poetry. We may think we can't draw a picture, but the truth is, you really don't know it until you give yourself a chance and feel what it feels like to have that experience. You may find that you like poetry. And your poetry may not be what you expect it to be, but it may be exactly what feels right for you. You may not also feel that you like the way you can't draw, and you're not an artist. But then you might start doing a collage, or you might start doing an intuitive painting and just really like the way it feels and the way it's progressing. It's really important that we release our inner critic, and I will do a meditation to do that as well. So it's giving yourself permission. So what this course is about is giving yourself permission to take the time to make art, to create a space in your life in which you can do the art. And I'm inviting you to create a journal because the journal is something that's portable. And I'm going to talk about personalizing that, so that's something that you can take with you everywhere and use it as a touchstone.
And also, I want you to have patience with yourself. And be forgiving with yourself and allow yourself to be exactly where you are.
I really believe that we can tap into our passions, but we have to have patience.
And this course is like planting a seed in your heart. It's like planting a seed in a garden, and this garden is that seed is you're doing different art activities, and those art activities need time to grow. You need time to play, you need time to nurture the creative spring within you, and this takes time. And it takes patience. So I'd like to read you a poem that really is inviting you to take the time that you need to do this course and realize that there's no deadlines for your creativity. This is a journey that is going to begin with this course, and I hope it goes for the rest of your life. Okay, this is called The Artist Creed- And I'm going to begin, The Artist Creed.
I believe I am worth the time it takes to create whatever I feel called to create.
I believe my work is worthy of its own space and is worthy of the name sacred.
I believe that when I enter this space, I have the right to work in silence, uninterrupted, as long as I choose.
I believe that the moment I open myself up to the gifts of the muse, I open myself up to the source of all creation, and I become one with the mother of life itself.
I believe that my work is joyful, useful, and constantly changing, flowing through me like a river with no beginning and no end.
I believe that what I'm called to do will make itself known when I have made myself ready.
I believe that the time I spend creating my art is as precious as the time I spend giving my life to others.
I believe what truly matters in the making of art is not what the final piece looks like or sounds like, not what it's worth or not worth, but the newness that is added to the universe in the process of the piece becoming itself.
I believe I am not alone in my attempts to create. And that once I begin this work and settle into the strangeness, the words will take shape, the form will find life, and the spirit will take flight.
I believe that as the muse gives to me, so does she deserve from me my mindfulness, my faith, and my enduring commitment.
So I invite you to let inspiration come to you.
Allow yourself to be open to possibilities that you have no idea what they may be.
This is a journey in exploring the unknown, the unknowns within yourself, giving yourself permission and the time that it takes to discover what inspirations may lie within you that you've never been able to tap into before.
I believe everyone is an artist. Everyone has the innate capacity to be creative.
And I also believe everyone is their own healer. Within ourselves, we have tremendous power to heal ourselves. And the beauty when we bring in our creativity and the power of healing and bring them together, what unfolds is actually a miracle, and it's tremendous. We become more of who we always are, always were, who we're meant to be, and how it is to celebrate our aliveness. So, welcome to this journey, and I honor you and I honor your time.
It's important that you honor yourself and you honor the time that you give yourself to take this course, Healing with the Arts. Welcome.
